The Ritual Guide — 7 Steps to a Perfect Hawan

Your Pooja Fresh hawan cup is designed to make your ritual effortless and pure. Follow these seven steps for a complete, traditional experience.

Step 1: Prepare Your Space

Choose a clean, well-ventilated area — outdoors, near a window, or in a dedicated pooja room. Place a heat-safe surface (earthen kund, metal bowl, or hawan plate) at a comfortable height. Spread a clean cloth or aasan beneath it.

Step 2: Set Your Intention

Before lighting, take three slow breaths. Hold the hawan cup in both hands. Silently or aloud, state your intention — a prayer, a gratitude, or a sankalp for the day.

Step 3: Arrange the Offering

If you have flowers, ghee, or samagri, arrange them in small bowls nearby. These are optional — the Pooja Fresh cup is a complete offering on its own.

Step 4: Light the Cup

Hold a matchstick or lighter to the base of the cup for 5–8 seconds until a steady flame catches. The natural ingredients will ignite slowly — this is normal. Do not rush.

Step 5: Place and Offer

Once lit, place the cup in your kund or bowl. As the smoke rises, offer your prayers. The smoke carries your intentions upward — this is the sacred purpose of hawan.

Step 6: Observe the Burn

Each cup burns for 10–15 minutes. During this time, you may chant, meditate, or sit in silence. The aroma of the cup will fill the space naturally.

Step 7: Complete the Ritual

Once the cup has finished burning, let the ash cool completely before disposing. The ash is sacred — you may return it to the earth (a plant pot or garden). Never pour water on a burning cup.

Tips from Our Artisans

  • Morning hawan is most auspicious during Brahma Muhurta (4–6 AM) or sunrise.
  • Evening hawan during sandhya (dusk) completes the daily cycle.
  • For the Ritual Mix sampler, try each fragrance on separate days to find your personal ritual scent.
  • Store unused cups in the original box, away from moisture and strong odours.
